h = 3b .............(1)

apply formula for area and we get;
1/2 * b * h = 24
put the value of "h" from (1) and we get;
1/2 * b * 3b = 24
multiply both sides by 2 and we get;
1 * b * 3b = 48
3b^2 = 48
divide both side by 3 and we get;
b^2 = 16
take square-root of both sides and we get;
b = 4
put the value of "b" in (1) and we get;
h = 3b = 3 * 4 = 12
so height of triangle = h = 12
and base of triangle = b = 4
