Lets tom's age = t and
father's age = f
as per 1st given condition-
t + f = 100
or
f = 100 - t ...............(1)
as per 2nd given condition-
( t -10 ) 3 = ( f - 10 )
now, put the value of ' f ' from (1) and we get
( t -10 ) 3 = ( 100 - t - 10 )
solve the parenthesis and we get;
3t - 30 = 90 - t
3t + t = 90 + 30
4t = 120
divide both side and we get;
t = 30
put the value of t in (1) and we get
30 + f = 100
subtract 30 from both sides and we get;
f = 70
So tom's age = 30
and his father's age = 70
