Explanation of First Term with the Help of Examples

Following example explains How to Find or Locate First Term in a Statement of Proportion.

Example 1 : Find first term of the following:
a) 1 : 2 :: 11 : 22
b) 15 : 30 :: 8 : 16
c) 50 : 25 :: 8 : 4


Answer = First Term of the following ratio in Proportion are

a) 1 : 2 :: 11 : 22 (First Term is 1)
b) 15 : 30 :: 8 : 16 = 15 (First Term is 15)
c) 50 : 25 :: 8 : 4 = 50 (First Term is 50)



Example 2 : Find first term of the following:
a) 10 : 20 :: 1 : 2
b) 5 : 30 :: 2 : 12
c) 3 : 27 :: 1 : 9


Answer = The proceed is as :

a) 10 : 20 :: 1 : 2 (First Term is 10)
b) 5 : 30 :: 2 : 12 (First Term is 5)
c) 3 : 27 :: 1 : 9 (First Term is 3)



Example 3 : Find first terms in the following statements of proportion
a) 9 : 81 :: 5 : 45
b) 100 : 50 :: 80 : 40
c) 1 : 13 :: 2 : 26


Answer = The proceed is as :

a) 9 : 81 :: 5 : 45 (First Term in the Proportion is 9)
b) 100 : 50 :: 80 : 40 (First Term in the Proportion is 100)
c) 1 : 13 :: 2 : 26 (First Term in the Proportion is 1)
