Division of Fractional Number by Another Fraction Number

Division (Fraction and Whole Number) Division (Fraction by Fraction )

Under this division, we multiply one fraction number with multiplicative inverse of another fraction number.following examples further elaborates this method.

Example 1 : Solve 5
8
÷ 9
7

Answer = The solution is as follows-
multiplicative inverse of 9
7
is 7
9

Now, multiply the the first fraction with multiplicative inverse and we get

= 5
8
x 7
9

Divide; multiplication of numerators by multiplication of denominators and we get;

5 x 7
8 x 9
= 35
72

Example 2 : Solve 25
5
÷ 3
4

Answer = The solution is as follows -

multiplicative inverse of 3
4
is 4
3

Now, multiply the the first fraction with multiplicative inverse and we get

= 25
5
x 4
3

Divide; multiplication of numerators by multiplication of denominators and we get;

= 25 x 4
5 x 3
= 100
15

Example 3 = Solve 9
10
÷ 6
7

Answer = The solution is as follows -

multiplicative inverse of 6
7
is 7
6

Now, multiply the the first fraction with multiplicative inverse and we get

= 9
10
x 7
6

Divide; multiplication of numerators by multiplication of denominators and we get;

= 9 x 7
10 x 6
= 63
60
