In order to divide positive integer by negative integer, we simply divide them as we do in case of whole number and put minus (-) sign before the quotient.
In other words, when a positive integer is divided by a negative integer, the quotient will always be a negative integer.
Try following example to understand further:-
Example 1 = Divide (10) by (-2)
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= 10 / (-2)
Now divide 10 by 2 and we get
= 5
And add minus (-) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (-5)
Example 2 = Divide (27) by (-3)
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= 27 / (-3)
Now divide 27 by 3 and we get
= 9
And add minus (-) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (-9)
