In order to divide negative integer by negative integer, we simply divide them as we do in case of whole number and put plus (+) sign before the quotient.
In other words, when a negative integer is divided by a negative integer, the quotient will always be a negative integer.
Try following example to understand further:-
Example 1 = Divide (-50) by (-5)
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= (-50) / (-5)
Now divide 50 by 5 and we get
= 5
And add plus (+) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (+5) or 5.
Example 2 = Divide (-100) by (-2)
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= (-100) / (-2)
Now divide 100 by 2 and we get
= 50
And add plus (+) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (+50) or 50.
