Construction of Perpendicular at a point not on line

Construct Perpendicular (Point on line) Construct Perpendicular (Point not on line) Construct Perpendicular Bisector (Compass)

Below diagram represent, construction of Perpendicular to a given line at a point not on it.

In the above diagram, we take a Line XY of any convenient length and mark a Point O which not on the given line.

Now, to Construct a Perpendicular to Line XY at Point O, follow the below steps:-

1.) With O as centre and convenient radius, draw two arc on both sides of Line XY,
which cut Line XY at A and B.

2.) With A and B as centre and radius more than half of AB,
draw two arc which each other at Point C

3.) Join CO

Therefore, CO is Perpendicular to XY
